New Beginnings & Happy Endings2006

This 16 month old Jake boy is a typical energetic Pug. His owner had to give him up because she could not longer keep him in her apartment. He loves to play and his favorite kind of toys are the squeeky ones that he can throw around. He likes to play fetch. He is learning the sit-stay command. He does very well with the sit command. He knows that if he sits until I he hears "good boy", he will get a treat. He is very lively and very active. He is also very loving and does not like it when someone is hurting.

Catfish is a 3 year old male Pug who was turned over by his owner. Her own health problems prevented her from giving him the care he needed. He came to us infested with fleas and at least 5 lbs. underweight. Dr. Blackburn gave him all of his shots and he is heartworm negative. He is going to get neutered soon at which time he will get a badly needed dental. In the meantime, his foster Mom will work on getting some weight on him and evaluating his personality. He seems to be a typical pug, very sweet and partial to women. He can come across as "cool" sometimes but that is usually when he meets someone new. He gets along very well with other pets, (including Cats) and does great around children

Hello, my name is China Girl but you can call me precious for short. I am 2 years old and so full of energy that I am like having two pugs in one. I was turned over to rescue because my real mom thought I was not getting enough attention and she loved me so much that she wanted me to be in a home where I am the queen. I get along well with other dogs and must have a playmate. I have 3 pugs, a chihuahua, a terrier and a huge chocolate lab (he is 2 years old like me and I cannot keep my paws off him – I think I am in love!) as my foster family and we all get along great. I also have a cat foster brother but I just ignore him. When my foster mom comes home from work I demand to be picked up first and will not stop asking until she picks me up. I can run real fast and if given a chance will run right out the front door and won’t stop running until I am tired. I have been working on my listening manners because I can be a little stubborn although I am proud to say I am completely house broken. Also, I am a great climber – I can get on a bed that only my lab foster brother can get on. When I get real excited I like to give you little love nibbles on your fingers but I am very gentle. I would love a home with other animals to play with and a family to love me forever because I only deserve the best of everything according to my foster dad. My foster dad really wanted to keep me because I dance and sing when he plays the song China Girl. Hi, My name is Punky. I am a one year old fawn male Pug. I am blind in one eye but I can see fine. I love to play with toys and other dogs and am housebroken. I have had no accidents in my foster mom's house. I sleep with my foster mom and dad and all my foster brothers and sisters. I bark when someone is at the door or outside and run and play outside all the time. I am very lovable and would make someone a very good friend and companion. My owner had to give me up because he had no time for me and wanted me to have a better home. I am healthy and energetic. I love to go to Pugs in the Park.

Rainie is a 5 year old who was turned over to rescue by her owner. The owner’s young child did not know how to treat a pet and she wanted the best for her. Ranie blended in very well in her foster home. She went right in, checked the place out and made herself right at home on the sofa. She quickly figured out that you get a treat when you come back in, and anxiously waited for hers like the rest. She is very smart and learned a few simple commands like sit and stay. She’s a beautiful fawn with a lot of black (kind of salt and pepper) on her face and a lot of salt and pepper on her back and legs. She weighs about 23 pounds, but is not chubby, just thick. She has a really sweet personality and a cutie pie face with lots of wrinkles. She gets all excited when you wrestle with her and runs around and around as fast as she can doing”the pugtona". She has lots of play in her and is a "young" five year old.. The perfect family in Memphis found her and this is her story….Rainie came to us on Sunday, 4/30/06. We are keeping the name "Rainie" because she responds so well to it. As soon as she walked in the door, we all fell in love with her. She's a lot more laid back than my other pug, Sadie, but as days go by she's getting a little more fiestier. She is so smart. She loves to go outside and she minds so well. I'm hoping that she will teach Sadie some manners. She loves to ride in the car and go walking. We go camping a lot and I can't wait to take her. Also, I can't wait to take her to Pugs in the Park. All I want now is for time to go by so she can be reassured that she has a home with lots of love in it for her. She loves to cuddle and there's a place in our bed at night for her. She has lots of wrinkles and she hardly snorts at all (no problem with snorting, though. I am used to it and I always tell people that it's "music to my ears"). I am just so glad that she's part of our family now. I know that it was meant to be. We love her so much!!!  I want to especially thank Terri Huth (Rainie's foster mom) for taking such good care of her, Roseanne for bringing Rainie to her new home and Anna for doing such a wonderful job at Pug Rescue

This is to let you know that Mickey, AKA Lulu that we adopted from Pug Rescue of Memphis in Jan. 2006 is doing well in her new home in Brandon, FL (a suburb of Tampa, FL). Our son Murr Rockstroh that was very active in the Pug Rescue program when he lived there got her for us. Our son Murr and his wife Nancy live just 3 and a half hours from us in Jacksonville now and we take Mickey up to visit their two pugs, Inky and Wicket that they also adopted from Pug Rescue of Memphis. Mickey is a very good dog and we have not had any problems with her at all. She is very well behaved. Barbara & Medford Rockstroh Brandon, FL

Bessie is a three year old black female whose owner left her at a shelter. We don't know the reason why but we do know she's a healthy girl and gets along great with other pets. She loves to run circles close to where you are and is very loud snorer! Bessie, a typical Pug, is an attention hound. She adores children and would love a family to call her own.
Ubee is a 1 year old black male Pug. He's very energetic and loves attention. He's a healthy boy who loves children and gets along very well with other pets. He plays like a puppy and likes to take his stuffed bear and shakes it all around. The other night he jumped off the bed and just went running around in circles. He is a little snappy when taking his treats. When he came to rescue it was obvious he was lacking in the appropriate amount of pug attention. He is a happy, well adjusted puppy now and will be an excellent addition to his new family.

I was Andy, but my new name is Spanky and I am so very happy. I found my momma. I dance and run and wiggle and smile and follow her everywhere. I give her kisses and hugs as often as she lets me. Daddy is pretty cool, too, and we rumble when he gets home. My people-brother Kyle brought me the neatest toy on Mother’s Day. Pretty cool - momma didn’t get anything but me. Tyler – my canine brother – barks at me when I run circles around him,  then dash in to get his bone! I am so fast. Dad calls me ricochet. I have a very important job: I greet people when we go for a walk. My favorite thing to do is dance around the backyard doing my “pug wiggle run”. Catching fireflies and picking momma’s flowers are fun, too.   Thank you “Pug Rescue” for helping me find my family. Special thanks to Miss Anna, Miss Laura and Mr. Paul; for taking such good care of me.

Meet Mario who was found roaming the streets of the city as a stray.  He came to us with a few scratches and a slightly swollen leg.  It appears he may have been attacked by another dog.   Mario is probably no more than 1 year old.  He's been check by Dr. Blackburn and is a healthy boy.  He's heartworm negative and all of his shots are up to date.  He will be neutered mid December and will be ready for a "forever" home shortly after the new year.

Meet Bella who was abandoned by her owner.   The owner was moving and was unable to take her along.  She was left with someone who was unable to care for her and turned her over to Pug rescue.  This lively little girl is 13 months old and has a gorgeous apricot coat. She has a tiny frame and is very petite. She's been spayed, is up to date on her shots and ready for a home where she can be cared for and get the love and life she deserves
