Pug Rescue of Memphis, Inc.
A non-profit 501(c)(3) all volunteer organization dedicated to the Pug
Some Pugs come to rescue are not adoptable because of their age or a medical condition. We appreciate the foster homes that share their live with these special Pugs. We are happy to be able to give them the love and care they require for as long as it takes but we need your help. Some need to make regular visits to the vet and some require medication on a regular basis.

Sam
was our first "resident" of Hospice. Three years ago he had the
misfortune of being abandoned at a shelter in Memphis. He had some hair loss because of flea allergies and several
teeth that were so infected there was puss oozing from them. Last but
not least, he was Heartworm positive. After being on antibiotics to clear
up the infection in his mouth he was able to have the dental and had 4
teeth pulled. It was obvious he felt better and his his animated
personality began reveal itself. He loved to have his ears rubbed and let you
know if you stopped and he hadn't had enough. Dr.
Blackburn felt the risk would be greater than the benefit of heartworm
treatment. He went on heartworm preventative, and after a year he tested
negative. Sadly, he had an enlarged heart...because of that
and other health problems it was very difficult for him to breath
and the time came for him to cross Rainbow Bridge. He was
truly loved and will be greatly missed by his foster Mom and pug
siblings.
SAMPSON
who had the
misfortune of being abandoned at a shelter in Memphis. The first weekend
in his foster home he kept to himself and got plenty of rest. On the way
to the vet he began to whimper for attention and crawled in his foster
Mom’s lap. He had some hair loss because of flea allergies and several
teeth that were so infected there was puss oozing from them. Last but
not least, he is Heartworm positive. After being on antibiotics to clear
up the infection in his mouth he was able to have the dental and had 4
teeth pulled. It’s obvious he’s feeling better.. his animated
personality is revealing itself. He likes to have his ears
rubbed and lets you
know if you stop and he hasn’t had enough. He has a good appetite, is
potty trained and has begun to walk up and down a few steps. Dr.
Blackburn feels the risk would be greater than the benefit of heartworm
treatment. He will go on heartworm preventative, which will slowly kill
the adult worms over time. He’s made a great deal of progress in the six
weeks we have had him…he looks fabulous, he's
got
a beautiful soft coat, clean teeth and a wonderful personality. Our goal
is to place Sampson in a home where he will be loved unconditionally. We
aren’t sure of his age, but he’s at least 10 years old. If you want a
happy, low maintenance companion Sampson is for you! You will never
regret the gift of love that you give an older rescue Pug

Frank

Frank is a young energetic 6 yr old fawn male. He came in heartworm
positive and after his treatments has now tested negative. He is very
healthy and loves attention. He loves to play with balls and chases them
and carries them around. He is a good eater and is
housebroken. He is ok with other dogs but would be happy as an
only pet. He loves to curl up in his little dog bed and take naps. He is leash
trained and loves to walk and would make someone a great little
companion.
He does not like to be left alone for long
periods of time. He doesn't even like to go outdoors to do his business
alone.

Raffael
If you are looking for a cuddly couch potato, I'm
just the guy you need!!! I would love to find a forever home that is as
laid back as I am, or at least have an area where I can be laid back.
It's my favorite past time. I came to my foster family from a shelter,
they didn't know anything about me at all. They found me wandering on
a golf course. I am in a foster home with 3 other rambunctious pugs and
a bulldog that wants to make sure I know she's the boss. I am soooo
easy-going that I can ignore them and still be happy. I have had all my
shots and tested negative for heartworm. My foster mom is very proud of
me because I am housetrained. I am going very soon to get a much needed
dental. After that I'll be ready for my forever home.
Emma Jean is a
7 year old sweetheart who was abandoned by her owner. She was
dropped off in a cage with a note that ready they could not longer
take care of her. Dr. Blackburn has given her a complete exam. She's
been spayed and is now up to date on her shots. She's diabetic and
requires a small dose of insulin twice a day. She
was in desperate
need of a dental and that’s been taken care of. She is feisty and
full of personality and has had made herself at home with her foster
family. They have nicknamed her the "Beauty Queen". She loves to sit
outside and be brushed. She gets along with their other pets and is
right there to greet guests just like the rest of them.. There isn’t
anything she doesn't love doing (except going to
the vet). When her foster Mom picks her up from the vet she leans
against the seat and cries. She’s not sure if she is excited to see
her or if she is telling her she didn't have a good day. She's
definitely that loyal pug and stays right by your side. She loves
giving kisses and being petted (she closes her eyes and begs you not
to stop). She is a great girl and has lots of love to give.

Cricket

This
11 year old was turned over to rescue when her owner passed
away. The family didn’t want to keep her.
Ms. Cricket is a well adjusted senior citizen
who is spoiled rotten. She has lost some weight down to 23
pounds. She loves to talk and demand that you pay attention to
her. She recently got a dental and had a small growth under her
chin removed. She is very worried about her brothers and sisters
when they have to get her meds. She is not very happy when you
take care of their medical needs and she absolutely does not
tolerate any brother or sister in pain. She runs over and barks
at you to leave them alone or help them. She loves to go riding
in a car and she loves her daddy lots.
